Boro have managed three wins, a draw and two losses so far – and they sit eighth in the table at this early stage.

They lost El Staffico – a clash with local rivals Hednesford Town – 1-0 in front of 1,226 fans at Marston Road on Monday.

Summing up how things have gone so far, Kitching said: “I think that it is half decent, we have done OK.

“Of course, though, Monday was bitterly disappointing.

“The fans have a had a bit to shout about but Monday, we had a big crowd and we didn’t turn up.

“We wanted to put in a big performance to send them home happy, but we didn’t.

“We’re on 10 points and if you would have offered me that before we started, I would’ve probably took it.

“Overall, it’s a decent start but we are mindful that we need to improve and find the right formula at home – but it’s not through a lack of effort.”

Rangers have had striker Dan Westwood, signed from AFC Telford United, find the net five times already this term.

Kitching is happy with his attacking options, but has urged them to click and added: “I’m happy with what we have got.

“The last couple of games, though, we haven’t quite clicked going forward and that’s something we need to look at in the coming training sessions and games. I am happy, but could be happier.”
