Boro finished last season 13th in the Evo-Stik Premier and only lost three of their final 12 games.

Kitching, whose side also made final of the Walsall Senior Cup, is determined to be competing for a play-off place next season and, having found a ‘good blend’, believes a lot of last season’s group are capable of doing so.

“It is very early days, we only finished the season last week,” he said.

“That being said, are looking to hold talks with members of the current squad this week and next week, to make sure that they want to stay here for next season.

“We have got a good blend already here.

“We would like to get a few more young faces in, and some experienced lads along the way would be nice as well but it certainly won’t be wholesale changes.”

He added: “We did finish 13th though and that’s not where we want to be.

“We don’t just want to settle for that so a few players, who can improve us, will be coming in to the club. It won’t be an overhaul though.”

Meanwhile, experienced midfielder Kris Taylor has left the club to join El Staffico rivals Hednesford Town.

The Pitmen appointed Neil Tooth as their new boss on Monday and Taylor – who has played for the likes of Walsall and Port Vale in the Football League – has joined as a player-coach.

Kitching said: “Kris has moved to Hednesford of course.

“He did well for us in his time here, and he wanted to take his first steps into coaching so we wish him well.”
