Stafford Rangers miss out in tough contest
Stafford Rangers got 90 minutes in at last – but it didn't finish in the way they would have wanted.
Neil Kitching's men missed out 2-1 in a niggly Evo-Stik Premier affair at Barwell which featured six bookings in the first half alone.
Barwell went ahead after just eight minutes, Callum Bell tapping in a rebound from close range after Rangers keeper Adam Whitehouse had blocked Brady Hickey's shot.
Rangers, with a sizeable contingent of their fans in among the 309 spectators, got back on level terms from the penalty spot after a home mix-up in defence eventually saw keeper Liam Castle foul Joshua Gordon.
Gordon netted from the spot, but the home side regained the lead when Owen Story flicked on a ball over the top and Hickey supplied the finish.
Kitching was pleased to get through 90 minutes after a number of games fell foul to the weather.
