Neil Kitching: Rangers were 'workmanlike'

Boss Neil Kitching has praised his Stafford Rangers players for a 'workmanlike' performance in the 3-0 victory over Tividale at Marston Road.

Skipper Christian Dacres, Josh Craddock and George Cater all found the net for the Boro.

They remain 10 points clear in the Evo-Stik First Division South due to Shaw Lane Aquaforce's 2-1 win against Loughborough Dynamo.

Kitching was pleased with the display, but did acknowledge that his side were not at their best in the opening exchanges.

He said: "I'm really pleased obviously, three points again. It was a good performance, I've said to the boys it was very professional, workmanlike, but with lots of quality.

"It took us 20 minutes to settle down really and get used to the dryness of the pitch, it was a bit bobbly.

"We set up with a real attacking side, and we have got a number of players who are real leaders, who are experienced players.

"I think 20 minutes in they realised, with the conditions you have got to try and score a goal, or a couple of goals, to get the advantage."

Tividale attackers Demetri Brown and Christopher Sterling - formerly of Stafford - caused problems for the Boro defence early on, which Kitching acknowledged.

He added: "I wouldn't say they are our bogey side, but we've had some tough games against Tividale over the two years I have been at the club.

"They're not a bad outfit, they hang in there and have got a threat up front.

"The two opportunities they had was because we didn't look after Sterling and the No 10 (Brown) - was it the midfielders role, or centre-half's role to pick up the 10?

"It was a little bit edgy, we needed the early goal to settle us down. It didn't come early, but when it came it did settle us and from then it was quite comfortable.

"We took our goals well, but in the second half I thought we played really well.

"We kept it, when you thought they would have a lot of the ball because of the conditions.

"We transferred it from left to right, into good areas and created some good opportunities, scored the third goal and really, controlled the whole afternoon."
