The Boro bounced back from their 2-0 defeat at Leek Town last Monday, but took until the 56th minute to take the lead after a poor first-half display.
"There was a catalogue of errors in the first half with a lack of communication and players running into each other," said Rangers manager Neil Kitching, who gave his squad the week off following that loss to Leek. "We've got some work to do and I think there are quite a few of the lads who have had heavy Christmases and heavy New Years so we need to blow the cobwebs out of them."
Rangers started slowly and played themselves into trouble on eight minutes when Jermaine Johnson's poor backpass was intercepted by Niall Davie, but the marksman was denied by a close-range Adam Whitehouse save. However, as the half wore on, Kitching's side came through the poor spell and should have taken the lead but Nathan Rooney's 39th-minute penalty was saved after Levi Reid was brought down.
Boro pressed for the opener in the second half and, two minutes after coming on as a substitute, Kidderminster Harriers loanee George Cater slotted home Ben Haseley's through ball.
It was strike partner Haseley who doubled his side's advantage on 66 minutes when a Cater corner came through a crowded box to the marksman, who rifled home.
The victory was completed with five minutes remaining when Christian Dacres released Cater, who rounded the goalkeeper before firing home.
