Stafford Rangers teenager Oliver Davies will sit out the Walsall Senior Cup second round game at Stafford Town with a contract waiting for him on the table.

Davies missed Saturday's Evo-Stik Northern Premier League 1-1 draw at Nantwich with a chest infection and won't recover in time to make the trip tomorrow night.

But the 19-year-old, who can play at left-back or on the wing, has been offered a deal after joining on non-contract forms in the summer.

His impact since his debut because of an injury to Ryan Brown and then on the wing after Courtney Pitt was released has persuaded Rangers boss Greg Clowes to tie the youngster down.

Davies was due to sign before Saturday's game and won't tomorrow night, but could put pen to paper prior to the FA Trophy first round match at home to Southport this weekend.

For now, Rangers are focussed on the cup clash with their town rivals at Evans Park and have made a big gesture to their opponents ahead of the game.

Any gate profits were due to be split between the two teams but Rangers have agreed to donate their share to their near neighbours, who play in the Midland Combination Premier Division.

Rangers could recall Karl Ashton after the striker missed Saturday's game with shock caused by a car crash, which wrote his car off.

Winger Levi Reid is also available after a four-match suspension and is likely to start as he looks to get back to match fitness.

The winner of tomorrow night's tie will progress to a home game with either cup holders Rushall Olympic or Romulus in the New Year.
