Rangers ponder a role for Dean Oliver
Stafford Rangers today pondered Dean Oliver's role in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League game at Blyth Spartans on Saturday.
Oliver is fit again after missing the last two games with a groin injury in his first start for the club, a 3-1 defeat at Marine 10 days ago.
In his absence, top scorer Danny Quinn has scored four times alongside makeshift attacker Fabrice Kasiama who, although goalless, has shone.
Rangers boss Greg Clowes hinted he may use Oliver in a 4-3-3 formation, although the signing from Gresley could also be left on the bench.
Quinn is regarded as the team's dangerman with 12 goals and Clowes hopes that will make Blyth overlook the threat of strike partner Kasiama.
He said: "Over the last two games, Quinn has scored four and Fab hasn't got any, but he's probably played better.
"Come Saturday, Blyth will be making sure they are looking at our leading goalscorer and probably won't look at Fabrice.
"Teams look at goalscorers, sometimes you get lulled into keeping out the dangerman but Kasiama is on fire, at the moment."
There will be a change in goal for Rangers when they make the long trip to Croft Park, with Adam Alcock out through work commitments.
Danny Read steps in after recovering from a hamstring strain with third-choice Jordon Wood called up to the squad for added cover.
Clowes watched Blyth get hammered 8-1 at Worksop last night but is still taking nothing for granted against Saturday's hosts.
He said: "Anybody can beat anybody in this league, I am not naive enough to think that, all of a sudden, we have arrived.
"When we do a full month of it, week in and week out, then I will think that we are getting there."
