Right-back poser for Rangers
Stafford Rangers' problems at right-back are unlikely to subside in time for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League visit of Chorley.
Ryan Dicker hurt his calf muscle in the warm-up of Saturday's 3-0 FA Trophy win at home to Ramsbottom United, opening up a void in the centre of defence.
Jimmy Turner immediately moved across to the heart of the backline to fill the breach but left a spot open at right-back, where winger Peter Heler stepped in.
With centre-halves Luke George and Karl Espley still out injured, Rangers may go unchanged tomorrow night and ask Heler to again play out of position.
Manager Greg Clowes has been actively trying to sign players over the last week and has lost out on Nuneaton's Ben Ford, who has decided to join Bedworth.
Tamworth's Spanish striker Jan Llado turned down a loan move, while advances towards Robbie Mullin have been delayed by Chester's FA Trophy progress.
Sean Kinsella was in a matchday squad for Rangers on Saturday for the first time this season after a broken ankle but is not yet ready to start matches.
Fellow midfielder Christian Dacres came on for the last 18 minutes after two months out with a knee injury but is also being eased back into action.
Garry Flitcroft's Chorley won 1-0 at Rangers last season in Clowes' second home league game in charge before a 2-2 draw in January's reverse fixture.
Clowes said: "The home game was completely dominated by us and it was a smash-and-grab. We could have won both games, really.
"But that's gone now and we have to take our performance from Saturday into the match tomorrow night.
"I think the most pleasing thing is that we kept a clean sheet, which is what we are striving to do here.
"After this, we will have played the top three in the league back-to-back and I feel we should have points from that.
"We have got to start putting a run together if we are going to get to where we want to be."
