No place is safe at Rangers

Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes today warned his players no-one's place is safe after making three new additions to the squad.

Gresley striker Dean Oliver and free agents Darren Alexander and Levi Reid have arrived, while Liam Newman has been shipped out to Congelton.

And, despite last night's 2-1 win at home to Ilkeston, the Rangers boss won't be letting any of his starting line-up rest on their laurels.

Oliver would have been involved but was carrying a slight hamstring strain and caught the eye when Gresley put Rangers out of the FA Cup last month.

Former AFC Telford and Hednesford forward Alexander is back in football after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and was a late substitute.

Reid is in his third spell at Marston Road and started the game, having previously debuted for Rangers in spells from 2005 to 2007 and 2009 to 2011.

Newman could be gone for good after joining Congelton on an initial short-term deal and Clowes warns more will be shown the door if they don't perform.

He said: "I am now looking for people in every position to move this football club on, I can't wait another 10 games and still be 13th.

"They know that, if they don't perform on a regular basis, they are going to be out of the team as they are not going to move us on.

"I have been fair with players but a quarter of our season has gone now and we have got 15 points."

Clowes was impressed with the input of Reid on the right, who played 80 minutes in his first appearance of the season.

The former Port Vale and Oxford winger is back at his hometown club once again and has made his mark on the manager.

He said: "Levi did a very good job for me, he gave us width and balance on the right and showed a lot of experience.

"He lasted 80 minutes and that's probably 20 minutes more than I expected, really, so fair play to him."
