Rangers defenders back for FA Cup trip

Stafford Rangers will welcome back defenders Karl Espley and Luke George for their FA Cup second qualifying round trip to Gresley.

Espley is back from a one-match ban and George from a shin injury that forced both to miss Tuesday's 1-1 draw with FC United of Manchester.

They are likely to be on the bench when Rangers tackle the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South side, who play in the league below.

Rangers are unbeaten in eight games but have drawn five and manager Greg Clowes wants see more of a cutting edge from his side going forward.

Clowes believes Gresley will be nullified if they can keep Marc Goodfellow, the former Stoke and Bristol City midfielder, quiet on Saturday.

It's the first of two cup games for Rangers with next weekend's FA Trophy game at Rugby Town and Clowes wants to see progress.

He said: "I look at us and I think we are difficult to beat, but I would like us to be a little bit more cut-throat in front of goal.

"We are taking steps, at the moment, we have got two cup games now, both away, and there's money on the table.

"Cup football can throw anything up, teams take chances and you can do things you wouldn't do in league games.

"Gresley will have done their homework and they have got a very good lad playing for them in Marc Goodfellow.

"His work-rate is not exactly brilliant but he's their match-winner and the other 10 players do the digging for him.

"We have got to be careful of him and the pitch has got a big slope on it, as well."
