Stafford Rangers' right-sided performer Jimmy Turner has been ruled out of the FA Cup trip to Stourport Swifts with a groin injury.

The right-back, who has been playing on the wing, leaves a gap in the side for the first qualifying round tie against the Midland Alliance side.

Dean Clarke is in contention to replace him at Walshes Meadow along with Peter Heler, who had a run-out playing for Alsager in midweek.

Rangers could revert to 4-4-2 on Saturday, with striker Danny Quinn back from a groin problem after missing Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Grantham.

Quinn could partner Simon Everall in attack as loanee Luke Bottomer, who played just behind Everall in midweek, is waiting for permission.

His parent club Tamworth has yet to make a call on whether they want the former Rushall Olympic star cup-tied for the rest of their campaign.

Nonetheless, Rangers boss Greg Clowes will look to attack their hosts but is wary, after tumbling out of the competition to Stratford last season.

He said: "Stourport have just had a relegation but they are third in their league now and we have had them watched.

"They play a system which is hard to score against, a 3-1-4-2, which turns into a five when they haven't got the ball.

"It's very important that we get the first goal as the FA Cup can throw up all sorts of things, I know that more than anybody.

"We lost to a lower-league side at home in the competition last year but we have done very well against such clubs in pre-season.

"We brushed all the sides away that we played but, of course, there's wasnt £3,000 on offer and that's a cash boost for the club.

"My players have been made aware of the pitfalls, we have got everything to lose at Stourport and we are expected to win."
