Rangers boss backs duo for 20 goals
Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes today backed strike duo Simon Everall and Danny Quinn to plunder 20 goals apiece this season.
Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes today backed strike duo Simon Everall and Danny Quinn to plunder 20 goals apiece this season.
Everall and Quinn already have three goals each to their credit with the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign just six games old.
Quinn, who arrived in the summer, scored on the opening day at Kendal and then bagged two against his former club Hednesford last month.
Partner Everall was a close-season capture from Nantwich and netted in the weekend win over Matlock and twice at Grantham on Tuesday night.
And Clowes is raving about how his star strikers could kick on from here, with new signing Liam Newman also waiting in the wings.
The Rangers boss said: "Both Quinn and Everall have got three and there's no reason, in my book, why both can't get 20 goals.
"Simon got his first goal on Saturday and followed it up with two on Tuesday night, he's got the bit between his teeth now.
"Liam is not too far off, either, in two or three games time he will be ready and he's a goalscorer, through and through.
"We have got three lads there who can find the net and it's all about confidence, but they have the ability."
Rangers allowed Chris Morris, a regular up front last season, to sign for Romulus last week, leaving them with three strikers.
But Luke Bottomer, signed on loan from Tamworth, Courtney Pitt and Kevin Street are all attack-minded midfielders for Rangers.
Clowes said: "That's why we brought Bottomer in, he can play wide or in the hole, Courtney Pitt and Kevin Street can also do that.
"There will be the odd occasion when Ryan Dicker moves up front if we need to get a goal late, he's got a good touch for a defender.
"We haven't used that yet but it's something we would think about if we are chasing the game."
