Rangers lost their centre-halves in Monday's 2- draw at Hednesford in Walshe and Jermaine Johnson, who both had to be replaced by the end.
But ,while Johnson's season could be over after a horror leg break, Walshe appears to have shaken off his injury and could be available to play.
Ryan Dicker is favourite to partner him at the back ahead of Karl Espley, who replaced Walshe at Keys Park for his first game time of the season.
Striker Liam Newman signed for Rangers this week after leaving Witton Albion but is not yet fit, so won't be involved even as a substitute.
Johnson is on the injured list with broken ankle victim Sean Kinsella and Jon Sheldon, who has had a knee operation, although both are back in light training.
Matlock - managed by former Wolves midfielder Mark Atkins - have lost their last two games, 4-0 to FC United of Manchester and 3-0 at Rushall.
And Rangers boss Greg Clowes is expecting two wounded animals as his side search for their first win, after one defeat and three draws so far.
He said: "If we are going to climb this league, we need to start doing the business against teams who are not in the top half of the table.
"To look at it, we should be doing better against these teams and we know we have got to put in a performance to get a result.
"They have had one win and three defeats which have been quite heavy, but that will make them determined to put it right.
"Matlock are below us in the league but, having said that, that doesn't mean anything at this stage for me."
