Full-strength Rangers squad at Norton
Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes will be taking a full strength side to where it all began for him - despite a match against Port Vale 24 hours later.
Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes will be taking a full strength side to where it all began for him - despite a match against Port Vale 24 hours later.
Clowes returns to North West Counties League Premier Division side Norton United tomorrow night, where he began his coaching career.
The Rangers boss can call upon midfielder Kevin Street and goalkeeper Jordan Wood, who will both play as they are back from their holidays.
Winger Peter Heler should also be involved after a period out through work commitments, but centre-back Liam Walshe is away on his summer break.
Heler's opposite number on the left flank, Fabrice Kasiama, has been pencilled in for a run-out in both games as he strives to reach full fitness.
Kasiama is set to be offered non-contract forms for next season by the end of the week and Clowes is expecting an impact against Norton.
He said: "I have got a big squad and I expect anybody who plays at Norton to be doing well, especially as we are playing a lower-league club.
"But I feel that this will be the strongest side from that level that we have played in pre-season."
Conversely, Norton boss Scott Dundas is an ex-Rangers player, which means Clowes won't be the only one reunited with a former club.
He said: "I like Norton, they are good people and, when the Vale game came up, there was no question of us not fulfilling this fixture.
"We put this match in weeks and weeks ago and, if you can't support clubs like Norton, it's time to pack up."
