Stafford Rangers' trialists seized the chance to impress as boss Greg Clowes' old club Alsager were put to the sword in a pre-season friendly.

Grant Jeffries won a penalty, ex-Ranger Fabrice Kasiama converted a spot kick while Dean Clarke set up one and scored another last night.

They ran riot in what ended a 5-1 a rout over Andy Turner's North West Counties Premier Division Bullets at the Town Ground.

The hosts had held out until 10 minutes before the break, when Chris Morris cut inside the area and fired home to his left.

Danny Quinn made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, when Jeffries was brought down, five minutes later.

Rangers rebounded from conceding straight after the break with a qucikfire header from defender Jermaine Johnson, from Clarke's corner on the right.

Kasiama, who is close to agreeing a deal, got the fourth from the spot after Jimmy Turner was felled after a great run forward from right-back.

A comprehensive win was sealed by Clarke's goal for 5-1 late on, finishing in the six-yard box after Courtney Pitt's corner from the left had run free.
