Rushall Olympic look to get through ‘sticky patch’
Rushall Olympic will be looking to get back into winning ways following back-to-back defeats over the Bank Holiday weekend as they play host to Biggleswade Town tomorrow (3pm).
Liam McDonald’s side find them up against opponents who are yet to taste defeat in their five league games this term.
“We’re ready for the challenge that Biggleswade Town will present to us,” said McDonald. “They will come here well organised and determined to preserve their unbeaten start, so we know that we are going to have to be on the front-foot from the very first whistle.
“We have the ideal opportunity to respond in the right way on home soil against opponents who are unbeaten in their opening five league games.
“It’s fair to say that it’s not been a great start to the season generally for us, but there have been definite signs of encouragement in the majority of our games so far and we will be looking to build upon these as we go forward.
“It’s still very early days, of course, and we’ll keep working hard to ensure that we get to where we want to be.
“We certainly have the quality to shine. Monday’s defeat at Tamworth was tough on the lads because against the favourites for promotion, we were the better side overall. We dominated possession in the second half and should have cancelled out our hosts’ early opener, but we were punished towards the end by conceding a second goal to put the game out of reach.
“It’s a bit of a sticky patch but we will get through it. All teams will go through bad spells during the season, hopefully we will get ours out of the way early so that we can kick-on.”
