Marine 2-2 Rushall - Report
It was an old fashioned game of two halves in Merseyside as the Pics lost a two goal half time lead to come away with a point against Marine AFC in an entertaining 2-2 encounter.
The Pics took an early lead on 10 minutes, when Andre Landell worked his way into the box down the right side before lashing home an effort low to Martin Fearon's right.
That lead was doubled on 20 minutes after some excellent build up play down the right channel. Josh Webb played a low ball in to Richard Brodie, who laid it off for Sam Whittall to jink past a Marine defender before placing it past Fearon and into the bottom corner.
In an otherwise quiet first half for Pics keeper Jahquil Hill, the Bermudan international was forced to beat away a fiercely hit shot from Marine captain Danny Mitchley on 33 minutes.
The home side were given the chance to score from the spot on 70 minutes when Landell was adjudged to have brought Mitchley down in the box. The Marine number nine picked himself up to slot home an excellent penalty and pull a goal back.
An equaliser nearly came barely a minute later. It was Mitchley again, this time the striker lobbing Hill only to see Josh Webb hook clear from under the crossbar.
The equaliser did come on 82 minutes, however, when Kenny Strickland caught Hill out with a free kick 30 yards out. The Marine number two curled in a ball that missed everyone and went in off the post to complete the Crosby side's comeback.
