Jimmy Shan wants to see Kidderminster Harriers hit straight back

Kidderminster Harriers are out to bounce back tomorrow following the ‘poorest performance’ since Jimmy Shan took charge.

Harriers are hosting Blyth Spartans after a 2-1 defeat at Hereford on New Year’s Day.

And Shan is looking for a lot more from his side as they take on National League North’s second-bottom outfit.

“Being brutally honest, I think it was the poorest performance since I’ve been here,” said the former Albion coach.

“We lacked an energy and appetite in the first half. I think we need to make better decisions in the final third.

“You train a certain way and expect to play a certain way.

“For me, coming from a developmental background also, I like to scrutinise a performance and for my teams to play a certain way – with intensity, energy and quality.

“So, I was most disappointed with some of our decision-making, some of our quality, and some of our bravery to get on the ball.

“Most importantly, I thought we lacked energy, so that’s the most disappointing thing.”

Shan has also called for an improvement in the standard of officiating in the league after having a penalty awarded against them at Edgar Street.

It was given for a Ryan Johnson tackle, but Shan added: “It was never a penalty!

“It’s something I need to be careful and mindful of, with it being my first time at this level.

“But I think the officiating is very, very poor.

“I’ve watched it back. Ryan made contact with the ball, and then the lad has fell over him. It’s laughable, really.”

Harriers are aiming to get back on track after successive defeats.

Determined to build on successive wins, though, are Rushall Olympic in the Southern Central Premier.

But Liam McDonald’s Pics have a tough test on their hands as they are welcoming second-placed Peterborough Sports to Dales Lane.

Stourbridge are going up against Hitchin Town at the War Memorial Ground.

Hednesford Town – after losing 3-0 to table-toppers Tamworth – are going to Lowestoft Town.

And in Southern Central One, second-placed Halesowen Town are heading over to Kidlington.

Stafford Rangers could do with a win in the Northern Premier.

Still sitting at the bottom of the table, Boro – who have lost their last three – are travelling to Grantham Town.

Chasetown, in the South East Division, are making a trip to Shropshire to face Market Drayton Town.
