Russ Penn targeting an FA Trophy run for Kidderminster Harriers
Assistant boss Russ Penn insists Kidderminster Harriers will be going all out to go all the way in the FA Trophy.
Harriers won the competition in 1987 and have been runners-up three times.
They enter this season’s Trophy at Curzon Ashton this weekend, and Penn said: “It’s massive, and we’ll be taking it very seriously – why wouldn’t you?
“It doesn’t hamper your season; all of the fixtures are on a Saturday.
“We won’t be resting anyone and we’ll be going there to get a victory and get into the next round.”
Harriers are 16th in National League North, with five wins, three draws and eight losses.
They were knocked out at the first hurdle by York in the Trophy last term.
The last time they made it to the final was 12 years ago, when they lost 3-2 to Stevenage at Wembley.
James Constable got the Harriers’ goals in the loss.
“I’ve got to the final of this competition – it’s a great competition and a great day out at Wembley,” added Penn.
“That’s the little carrot we’ll all be playing for.”
