Harriers go into the Aggborough clash on the back of an 'exceptional' 4-0 win at Leamington on Tuesday night.

A victory over the Port, who are bottom of the table, could see them move to the top of National League North – but MacFarlane is stressing it is only the beginning of November.

"For a number of weeks, we have been chasing at the top of the league and we've got closer, but we have to remain humble," he said.

"We have to make sure that we are prepared for the weekend.

"We're in a good position. It's early in the season, but we are definitely going to be striving to do as best as we can."

Dan Bradley, Declan Weeks, Ashley Chambers and Lee Vaughan were all on target at the New Windmill Ground, leaving more than 250 travelling Harriers fans delighted.

MacFarlane says it was the best showing of the season, and wants his charges to keep up the momentum.

"It was a very satisfying night, exceptional from start to finish," said MacFarlane.

"It was definitely the best we've been all season through the course of 90 minutes, in and out of possession.

"Some of our football was incredible. We cut them open at the right moments.

"But it's got to get better. As a manager, that's one of the aims, continually looking to improve all the time – and that will never change

"We're always looking to get better. We said in the dressing room afterwards that we have to prepare – rest up and recover properly for Saturday against Southport."

He added: "We have to treat it properly. It's another difficult game.

"We'll come back and hopefully get another three points to keep us moving up the table, which is what we all want at this football club."
