Kidderminster Harriers waiting on James McQuilkin
Kidderminster Harriers will assess the fitness of winger James McQuilkin ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at Newcastle Benfield.
McQuilkin has been struggling with an ankle injury and is a doubt for the third qualifying round tie, which will see Harriers make a 470-mile round-trip to face Northern League Division One opponents.
The 28-year-old played 45 minutes of last week’s 5-4 win against Blyth Spartans before being brought off.
Boss John Eustace said: “Macca was struggling a bit with his ankle but he wants to play for the team. He wants to play for the club.
“Macca is going through the pain barrier. It just shows everyone wants to play for the team and the club.”
Harriers were poised to make the long trip north this afternoon to Newcastle.
They will face a Benfield side who play three levels lower in the non-league pyramid but Eustace has warned his players to expect a battle.
“It’s going to be a very tough game,” said the boss. “We will have to be very professional.”
