After kicking off the new National League North season with back-to-back defeats, John Eustace’s side responded in style this week with victories over FC United of Manchester and Leamington.

Ironside grabbed his first goal of the season from the penalty spot on Tuesday as Harriers secured a 2-0 victory over The Brakes.

And the striker knows he must keep scoring if he is going to retain his place in the side.

“I was delighted to get the goal,” the former Sheffield United man said.

“I needed that and hopefully it will be the first of many.

“When you are up there, you need to be scoring because that is what you are judged on.

“The target for me this season is to score as many goals as I can.”

Harriers are now hoping to continue their good form when they travel to take on big spending Salford tomorrow.

The side – backed by former Manchester United stars Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs – are the bookies’ favourites to claim the National League North title.

But Ironside is confident his side will come away with a result.

“We have played well in the last two games,” he continued.

“Obviously with the first two loses we needed to bounce back.

“But we trained well over the week and then took that into the games with two wins and six points.

“We have now had two professional performances so we go to Salford full of confidence.

“We have got a bit of momentum behind us so we’re going there looking to take three points from the game.”
