Kidderminster Harriers' Tyrone Williams sets great example, says boss
Kidderminster Harriers boss John Eustace has heaped praise on Tyrone Williams after his new deal – and believes the full-back sets a great example to the club’s youngsters.
The 22-year-old, dubbed as ‘Mr Reliable’ by the Aggborough chief, is the club’s longest-serving player having first penned a professional contract in 2013.
An academy graduate, he spent time out on loan at the likes of Hednesford Town and Stourbridge before his Harriers debut in 2016.
He has made 60 first team appearances and is now tied down until next summer.
Eustace said: “We are delighted that he has signed a new deal.
“The most pleasing thing for me is his attitude – he is always looking to learn, improve.
“Ty’s approach is top class and that has been rewarded, he is Mr Reliable.
“He can play in a number of positions and he never lets you down.
“It’s all about development when you’re young and he has came on a lot from the start of last season .
“I’m looking forward to working with him again and want him to really progress further this season for us.”
The Harriers Academy offers A Level and BTEC courses, alongside playing, for 16-19 year-olds in conjunction with Baxter College and Birmingham Metropolitan College respectively.
Eustace has urged youngsters on those courses, or looking to take them up, to take notice of Williams’ progress and said: “His attitude is quality. It’s great for the people at the college to look at that and see if you go about it the right way, on and off the pitch, you can get rewarded.”
Meanwhile, work to bring in players continues as the future of veteran Keith Lowe looks uncertain.
He did agree fresh terms earlier in the summer but has now been allowed to seek a move elsewhere.
Eustace added: “We have lost two or three of last year’s defence which is disappointing, but there’s no panic.
“We have spoke to a number of players but it’s still early. We want players who really want to come here and progress.”
