Kidderminster Harriers 0 Guiseley 1

Toothless Kidderminster Harriers' slim hopes of fighting off relegation from the National League suffered another massive blow.

The Lions sealed their narrow victory thanks a smartly-taken second-half goal from substitute Liam Dickinson.

It plunged rock bottom Harriers to their sixth successive league defeat, which leaves them a daunting 14 points from safety.

Shot-shy Kidderminster, who paraded new recruits Arthur Gnahoua, Ousmane Fane and Keith Lowe, were again totally ineffective up front in their first competitive match since December 28.

Their damaging lack of a reliable sharp-shooter enabled Guiseley to mark their first visit to Aggborough with their second 1-0 league triumph of the season over hapless Harriers.

The grim setback leaves Kidderminster without a victory since November 14 and in desperate need of a miracle to hold on to their place in non-league's top flight.

Aggborough chief executive and caretaker manager Colin Gordon acknowledged that Harriers are paying a hefty price for failing to find a consistent goal scorer.

He said: "We haven't got a targetman, a focal point, someone who can actually cause defences problems and get on the end of something. We need the final piece of the jigsaw.

"What we lack is killer instinct, turning possession into goals and a cool head."

Harriers' most effective player was midfielder Elton Ngwatala, whose tireless efforts deserved a goal.

In the first-half, he produced a dazzling run through the visitors defence before firing in the shot which was safely dealt with by goalkeeper Steven Drench.

Then, shortly after the interval, he pulled the trigger on a sizzling long-range drive which rebounded off the inside of a post.

Grateful Guiseley took full advantage of their lucky let-off by grabbing a winner in the 79th minute when a corner led to Dickinson scoring within 91 seconds of him replacing Adam Boyes.

It was a sickening blow for Harriers, who continued to struggle in attack where substituted Matthew Barnes-Homer failed to impress in his final appearance on loan from Aldershot.

And Gordon confirmed that the misfiring striker's stay at Aggborough will not be extended, adding: "Matthew knew what we needed. We've got to be ruthless."
