Kidderminster Harriers have signed West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Alex Palmer on a six-month loan-deal.

Harriers, having seen both of last season's goalkeepers Danny Lewis and Jas Singh leave during the close-season, have made Palmer their third signing this week.

The youngster, who turns 19 at the end of the month, has not yet featured for Tony Pulis' first-team but got his taster of first-team squad action when he made the bench at Albion's final day defeat at Arsenal last month.

Palmer played a vital part in the Black Country side's U21 campaign as James Shan's side finished fifth in the Development League Division Two.

It would be expected that Whild will bring in another goalkeeper before the season starts in August.

The youngster already stands at 6ft 3ins and has progressed during the last 12 months at the Baggies academy base.

He represented England at schoolboy level. Notably appearing in the Victory Shield in 2011, a tournament that England won.

Palmer's family are based in Kidderminster and in a bid to aid his development a move to a local side playing in the National League Premier seems a sensible decision.

The shotstopper signed at the Hawthorns club when he was 15 after impressing playing junior football in Worcestershire.

Lathaniel Rowe-Turner and Joe Clarke had both already made moves to Aggborough this week. The defender and midfielder, respectively, are expected to feature heavily for Whild's side this season.

It is unclear if the boss will use Palmer as his number one or dip into the market for a first-choice 'keeper.

Palmer will be in safe hands at Aggborough, under the guidance of former Premier League winning goalkeeper and England international Tim Flowers, who rejoined the backing staff at Harriers earlier in the summer.
