Kidderminster Harriers apologise to fans after season ticket farce
Kidderminster Harriers have apologised to supporters after moving season ticket holders from their own seats shortly before Monday's game with Bristol Rovers.
Around 50 fans were asked to vacate their regular seats in the East Stand at short notice because of security fears, after more than 2,500 visiting supporters made the trip to Aggborough.
Despite Rovers having sold out their allocation days in advance, Harriers officials claim the decision was taken on police advice, when it emerged dozens of away supporters would be travelling without tickets.
The East Stand is regularly segregated between home and away supporters
Club safety officer David Preece explained: "Despite numerous warnings from both ourselves and Bristol Rovers that fans turning up without tickets would not be permitted entry,0 it became apparent there were still going to be a number of supporters ignoring requests not to travel.
"After taking police advice, it was decided the best option was to find a way to accommodate them.
"We feel it was making the best of a bad situation."
The club issued an apology to the affected supporters via their website but this was met with a furious reaction from supporters on their own official Facebook page.
One, Chris Mills, posted: "That attempt at an apology is appalling. The club made it all-ticket and then let people in who turned up without one at the expense of season ticket holders."
A crowd of 4,229 - including around 2,650 visiting fans - saw Rovers win the game 3-0.
