Harriers broker a truce for financial boost

Kidderminster Harriers have brokered a truce with former directors Kath and Ernie Lane which they hope will ease the club's financial worries.

The couple, who had been under threat of legal action by Harriers, have agreed to continue their financial backing.

The club called off legal action last month, after threatening to sue over funds they claimed they were contractually owed.

The resignation of Mr and Mrs Lane from the board contributed to a club statement appealing for new investors, which raised fears that the Aggborough wage-bill might be slashed.

But a Harriers statement said today: "The club is pleased to announce that for some weeks there has been positive dialogue with Ernie and Kath Lane.

"The outcome of these discussions is that Ernie and Kath have decided to continue their financial support to the club.

"This in an effort to retain the current playing squad, in the hope that promotion to the Football League can be achieved this season.

"Costs and budgets will continue to be closely monitored, and any cost savings made, where appropriate, to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the club."
