Kidderminster Harriers ended their league campaign with a 1-1 draw at promotion hopefuls Halifax Town to leave them in a final position of seventh place following a turbulent campaign.

Harriers manager Gary Whild watched his side claim an eighth away draw as they finished the season with just one defeat in 13 games.

"To lose one game in 13 in this league is good and we have to build on that," he said.

"We deserved to win the game especially after the way we started. it was a good game and must have been entertaining for the fans

"It was sloppy to concede inside a minute the way we did

"I thought that in the second half, with a bit more composure, we could have gone on and won the game, but you can see why Halifax have done so well especially at home because from set plays and throw-ins they are difficult to deal with."

Harriers were aware that barring a mathematical swing, Halifax were already assured of a play off place but they were immediately on the back foot.

The game was just 65 seconds old when Josh Wilson ghosted in at the far post to convert Adam Smith's right-wing cross.

Harriers struggled in the early encounters, Simon Ainge just failing to direct his effort home following another Smith centre.

Gradually Harriers made their presence felt, Amari Morgan-Smith thought he had netted a 15th-minute equaliser, ruled out for offside.

Nathan Blissett capped a fine display with an all- important goal on the half-hour mark, rising to meet Lee Vaughan's cross with a powerful header.

After the break Harriers created a number of chances, the home side's replacement keeper Phil Senior, on for the injured Matty Glennon, producing excellent stops to deny Blissett and Amari'i Bell.

Senior, whose last league action was the second game of the campaign against Wrexham, was left exposed when Blissett robbed central defender Marc Roberts, but Morgan-Smith blazed over an open goal.

The home keeper ensured his team's impressive home record remained intact, only Woking had won at the Shay in the league this season, when diving to save a Vaughan piledriver, denying the Harriers full-back his first goal of the season.
