Gary Whild agrees 12-month rolling contract at Kidderminster Harriers
Gary Whild has been named Kidderminster Harriers manager on a permanent basis, the club have confirmed.
Whild, who took over on a temporary basis following the sacking of Andy Thorn in March, has agreed a 12-month rolling contract.
His appointment follows confirmation earlier today that Ken Rae will be staying on as chairman and is the latest step as the club look for stability following a tumultuous season which saw two managers sacked.
Whild was assistant to Steve Burr but was left in the cold when he was sacked in January.
After Thorn was dismissed eight weeks later, he returned but despite a run of just one win in 12 has been unable to guide the club into the play-offs.
Nevertheless, he has done enough to convince the club's board he is the man to take them forward.
"Gary has done fantastically to motivate the players over the last few weeks," said Rae. 2I think it's been quite obvious that they are doing as much as they can for him and this has been reflected in results and performances.
"In bringing Gary in as manager in March we said we wanted to give ourselves the best chance of finishing this season with a bit of momentum and that's exactly what we're achieving.
"While we may not be in a position to finish in the top five now, we do feel the need for a little more stability is important after the season we've had.
"I'm delighted for the club and delighted for Gary."
The club say Whild has held extensive talks with a number of members of the squad at Aggborough with a view to securing their services beyond the current season hope to announce more developments in the coming days.
