Play-off dream over for Kidderminster Harriers

Kidderminster Harriers dropped out of the race for a Skrill Premier play-off place by being held to a frustrating goalless draw against Nuneaton Town at Aggborough.

Their slim hopes of securing a top-five spot evaporated when they had to settle for a share of the spoils for the sixth time in their last 12 outings.

Harriers paid the price for a lack of fire power, particularly when leading marksman Michael Gash had to go off through injury just before half-time.

Gary Whild, whose side have lost just once in the 12 games since he took over as manager in early March, said: "It's a case of what if. In the last 12 games I can't really fault them.

"Being picky maybe we should have had another win, but to lose just one in 12 is fantastic. We probably just had a bit too much to do.

"I feel sorry for our supporters. They're probably disappointed and rightly so.

"I think they've been cheated in some ways. It's a shame, but we have given it our best shot.

"We want to go to Halifax on Saturday and finish the season the best we can because that's important.

"Let's get that out of the way and then we'll see what happens after that."

Knowing they needed a win and slip-ups from teams above them, the hosts started strongly and Callum Gittings fired just wide inside the first 30 seconds.

Kidderminster had a couple of goalbound efforts from Josh O'Keefe blocked during the first half but the visitors spurned a good chance to go ahead when Connor Taylor completely mis-kicked in font of goal.

Nuneaton, who won 2-1 at home to Harriers in August, went perilously close to breaking the deadlock on the hour mark when a free-kick from Danny Sleath found its way through a ruck of players before clipping the post.

Harriers were also narrowly off target with efforts from Jack Byrne, Chey Dunkley and Mickey Demetriou before Nuneaton wasted a good opportunity when Andy Brown fired over when well positioned.

Whild's side were again well served by full-back Lee Vaughan who, before kick-off, was named as Harriers' supporters' players of the season.
