Kidderminster are in grave danger of dropping out of the race for a Skrill Premier play-off place after a damaging defeat against promotion-chasing Grimsby Town.

Alex Rodman scored the Mariners' winner on 20 minutes to leave Harriers in 10th place in the table, seven points away from a top-five berth with six games left to play.

It was the first time they had tasted defeat since Gary Whild took over as manager from Andy Thorn in early March.

Grimsby, who triumphed 3-1 at home to Harriers in December, notched their all-important goal when midfielder Rodman spotted Danny Lewis off his line and lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper's head from 20 yards.

Kidderminster quickly set about trying to engineer an equaliser and could consider themselves unfortunate to still be trailing at half-time.

Nick Wright had a shot deflected away by visiting goalkeeper James McKeown's knees on 26 minutes and then Amari Morgan-Smith went close with another effort.

McKeown then produced a brilliant save just after the half-hour mark from Amari'i Bell.

After the break Harriers again battled hard for an equaliser with Josh O'Keefe firing just over from long range and substitute Adrian Cieslewicz having a shot blocked on the line.

Grimsby's best chance of increasing their slender lead came in stoppage time when Lewis did well to push away a shot from Rodman.
