Fans' backing is vital says Kidderminster Harrier's Kyle Storer
Captain Kyle Storer believes it is imperative Kidderminster Harriers fans get behind the team for tonight's huge home game with Woking.
Harriers go into the game looking to end a six-game winning run, with the club reeling from the shock departure of chairman Mark Serrell.
Serrell quit following a 2-2 draw with Braintree, in which both he and manager Andy Thorn came in for abuse from sections of the support.
And Storer admits even experienced players found it tough to concentrate on the game as supporters vented their spleen.
"From about 15 minutes in the atmosphere changed and it was difficult even for the senior players like myself and Josh Gowling," he said.
"For someone like Freddie Ladapo, who was making his full debut, it was really tough.
"It's no use us all pulling in different directions, the players having their say, the manager having his and board having theirs. It isn't helping anyone."
Storer admits the players must take their share of responsibility for a slump which has seen Harriers slide to tenth in the table, six points outside the play-off places. But he believes it will only take one result to turn their fortunes around.
"All the manager can do is put 11 men on the pitch and we've got to start performing," he said.
"As players we have to start taking some responsibility. People can use Steve Burr's exit as an excuse but we've all got to move on.
"If we can win tonight, it will really get the monkey off our backs. We are still not out of contention."
Harriers are likely to be without Michael Gash (hamstring) for the second game running, while Lee Vaughan is out as he completes a two-game ban.
