Kidderminster Harriers focus on promotion struggle
Michael Gash is confident Kidderminster Harriers will avoid an FA Cup hangover when they visit Hereford United tonight.
The Aggborough club return to earth following their trip to Premier League Sunderland with a derby clash against the struggling Bulls.
Harriers dropped points in their last league fixture against Dartford and slipped to eighth in the Skrill Conference following other results on Saturday.
But Gash is adamant the cup exit won't spill over into the coming league fixtures.
"We have had a chat about that," he said. "I think what we have got to take from the performance on Saturday is how we played, how we kept them out and how we stopped them creating chances.
"They got the goal but other than that we were making them force errors.
"The gaffer said to be proud of what we have done but take it into the league. If we play like that against teams in non-league we should be beating them."
Lee Fowler is an injury concern having missed out completely on the game at Sunderland though Callum Gittings could feature after being an unused substitute at the Stadium of Light.
Harriers follow up the derby with a trip to Gateshead on Saturday and Gash insists the cup is already a distant memory.
"It's gone," he said. "Everybody knows the chairmans main objective and the managers is to get out of the Conference.
"We are just up and down this season, we have stayed around the play-offs but we have had those games where we should be beating teams and we could be near the top."At the moment we are not too far off and a good run could put us right in the mix."
n Tom Berwick will get his first taste of action for Stourbridge tonight – 72 hours later than planned.
The forward was one of two players signed by Glassboys boss Gary Hackett on Saturday morning ahead of the game with Biggleswade, along with midfielder Louis Harris.
But despite being named in the team, the former Hemel Hempstead man was denied his debut by the freak lightening storm which set fire to a house in the town and drowned the War Memorial Ground pitch, forcing a late postponement.
