FA Cup win is for Kidderminster Harriers fans - Michael Gash
FA Cup hero Michael Gash today dedicated Kidderminster Harriers stunning win over Peterborough United to the club's supporters.
Andy Thorn's side were backed by a travelling army of 660 fans who made the trip to London Road for last night's third round replay.
And they were treated to a superb performance from the team, who ran out 3-2 winners to book a trip to Premier League Sunderland in round four.
Gash, who netted a crucial equaliser for Harriers shortly after half-time, paid tribute to the fans who he says helped pull the team through.
"It's fantastic to get a Premier League team and Sunderland in the next round," he said. "With a big ground, it's going to be a fantastic for the club, for the players, for everyone behind the scenes and most of all the fans.
"They have come down here, 700 of them, on a Tuesday night with work tomorrow.
"It's absolutely fantastic and that performance is mainly for them.
"The support really helps, when we went 1-0 down they just kept singing and you get messages from them all the time saying no matter what the score is we will always support you.
"They never stopped singing and thankfully we went on to win the game. They were as loud as anyone tonight."
Gash insisted Harriers always believed they could stun the hosts, having drawn 0-0 with them in the first encounter at Aggborough earlier in the month.
And he believes boss Andy Thorn got his tactics spot on, as Harriers looked to hit their League One hosts on the break.
"I think we did well at our place and we did not come here just to turn up and see how well it goes," he said. "We came here to win and we set up a shape which we knew they would come on to us.
"We were frustrating them at times and we did let a sloppy goal in.
"At half-time we had a word. We were told keep your heads up and you can get a goal. I'm happy it was me who got it and then we went on to get a second.
"Again we lapsed with the penalty but within two minutes Joe (Lolley) has scored a fantastic goal.
"I think everyone in the team worked their socks off. They did their job and there are some very tired bodies in the dressing room."
