Fitness worry for Kidderminster ahead of FA Cup replay
Andy Thorn was today assessing the fitness of several key players ahead of Kidderminster Harriers' FA Cup third-round replay with Peterborough United.
The Harriers boss revealed strikers Joe Lolley and Michael Gash, along with skipper Kyle Storer, had all picked up knocks in Saturday's 3-0 win over Salisbury.
Thorn is hopeful the key trio will all be fit as the Aggborough club look to pull off a shock at London Road and secure a dream trip to Premier League Sunderland in the fourth-round.
"We've got a few carrying knocks," he said. "Lolley, Gash and Storer all have knocks but they will be assessed and hopefully they will be OK.
"We're doing a bit more preparation this morning and we'll make sure we're ready for the game."
Lolley has been linked with a move to Peterborough and played a key role as Thorn's reign at Aggborough got off to a fine start on Saturday, bagging a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Salisbury.
Harriers are tonight set to be backed by a considerable travelling army after the club confirmed more than 500 tickets have been sold in the away section, though fans can still pay entry on the door.
"It's absolutely fantastic support," said Thorn. "To have that many fans making the journey to support the lads is great and without a doubt it will make a real difference."
He added: "It's going to be a fantastic night for us and we'll go there with no real expectations but we'll have had a couple of days to work on a game plan and hopefully we can see it through like we did (on Saturday). They're a good side, well managed and have the fire-power and everything else, but I am pleased with the group of players I've got and we'll go there and see what happens."
Former Wimbledon player Thorn, who was appointed Harriers boss last Wednesday, was part of one of the cup's greatest shocks when the Crazy Gang defeated Liverpool 1-0 in 1988. He says Harriers are not going to London Road to lie down.
"In the short space of time I've got to know our players I like to think they are a bit better than that," he said. "They are a good side, well managed. But I'm pleased with the group of players I have got."
