Steve Burr thanks Kidderminster Harriers fans for support
Steve Burr today thanked Kidderminster Harriers fans for their support a day after being sacked as the club's manager.
In a statement posted on the club's official website, the 53-year-old thanked fans for their "magnificent" support during his four years in charge at Aggborough.
"I just want to say thank you to everyone connected with Kidderminster Harriers because in my four years there I have thoroughly enjoyed it," said Burr.
"I'm sorry to be leaving but there is a good group of players there and hopefully they can kick on and get the success that the club deserves.
"I'm especially grateful to the fans because they've been magnificent since I've been there. I wish everybody all the best."
Burr had initially broken his silence on Twitter following his shock dismissal, posing the message:
Fans are now awaiting further developments, after Harriers chairman Mark Serrell admitted a replacement needed to be appointed sooner rather than later.
Serrell confirmed Burr's exit, which was announced yesterday morning, had been decided by the club's board. He claimed it was the "right decision at the right time" for the club.
"It's fair to say the board of directors have been considering a lot of things over the last few weeks, "he said.
"It was felt in the best interests of the club - in terms of achieving our aim of promotion to the Football League this season - to carry on without Steve."
Serrell also refused to discuss rumours of a possible falling out with Burr, adding: "I have no comment to make on rumours because they are just rumours."
