The former Coventry manager has been handed a one-year rolling deal at Aggborough just 24 hours after Steve Burr was sacked.

He said: "I have been most impressed by all aspects of the club, and the board share my vision when it comes to what our short and longer-term goals are and how we can achieve them.

"I'm extremely confident in my own strengths, particularly when it comes to man management and player recruitment, and allied with what I believe is an excellent coaching staff here at Kidderminster.

"I am very excited at the challenges that lie ahead and look forward to starting straight away this weekend against Salisbury."

Thorn, 47, won the FA Cup in 1988 with Wimbledon and also played in two more finals at Crystal Palace, with the final and replay in 1990 and he also had spells at Newcastle, Tranmere and Hearts.

Burr left with Harriers seventh in the Conference, 15 points off leaders Luton – who beat them 6-0 last month.
