The Conference Premier hosts enjoyed the better of the opening half at Aggborough, hitting the woodwork, while Michael Gash had a header cleared off the line.

Peterborough controlled the second half but Harriers keeper Danny Lewis twice denied Britt Assombalonga.

The visitors then almost snatched it during a goal-mouth scramble which saw the bar struck three times in the space of ten seconds but Harriers held on for the draw.

Peterborough's players were adamant the ball had crossed the line during that incredible spell. Quite how it didn't remained a mystery.

But it was impossible to begrudge the draw to a Harriers side who fought all the way and who, in the first half, were the better side.

Boss Steve Burr opted to bring Mickey Demetriou in to cover the suspended Chey Dunkley at centre-back.

Lee Fowler was also recalled to midfield, replacing Jack Byrne.

The hosts made a bright start and hit the visiting woodwork within the opening 90 seconds. Joe Lolley took the ball out wide and his cross-shot deflected up and off the top of the bar.

Harriers were pressing the visitors at every opportunity and looking to switch to attack as soon as they had the ball. Peterborough were finding life tough and when Lee Vaughan cut inside, his shot was parried by Olejnik into the path of Gash, who's header was cleared off the line by the covering Kgosi Nthle.

Joe Lolley, who's every touch created a buzz in the crowd, had a shot blocked following a powerful run. Peterborugh's first effort was a Lee Tomlin shot over following a strong Nthle dribble past two defenders. Assombalonga then shot straight at Lewis after the hosts failed to clear their lines and the visitors began to get a foothold in the game.

But it was still the hosts looking the more dangerous and lively Lolley forced Olejnik into a fine stop low to his left after latching on to a Vaughan long ball and racing into the box.

Peterborough's most dangerous moment of the half came on the break from a Harriers corner. Lee Tomlin was felled by Demetriou, who was booked, and from the free-kick Tomlin forced Lewis into a save low down to his right.

Lewis was again called into action early in the second half when he had to tip a point blank Assombalonga header over the bar.

Michael Gash drove straight at Olejnik and Tomlin shot wide in an end-to-end opening to the second period, which also saw Vaughan drag a shot wide.

Joe Newell and Shaun Jeffers were both wayward with efforts for the visitors, while Josh Gowling then did superbly to block a Newell effort and Tomlin deflected a Jeffers shot straight at Lewis.

The visitors were now well on top but Vaughan missed a glorious chance to put Harriers ahead when he sliced high and wide after being put clean through by Storer.

Lolley had a shot from the edge of the box deflected over, while Vaughan was on hand to hack away a loose ball at the other end.

Heading into the final ten minutes, Lewis again saved Harriers when he tipped over another Assombalonga header.

Then came an incredible passage of play as Peterborough hit the bar three times in ten seconds, starting with a Tomlin free-kick which led to a scramble in which the woodwork was struck twice more at close range, first by Assombalonga and then by Shaun Brisley.

Josh Gowling forced Olejnik into a save deep into stoppage time as Harriers pushed for an unlikely winner but instead the teams will do it all again at London Road in a week-and-a-half's time.
