Familiar foe Newport County stand in their way as last season's Conference promotion play-off winners return to Kidderminster for a second-round showdown which has the potential to deliver some classic FA Cup thrills.

The two teams meet with a strengthened County outfit taking their promotion bounce into League Two form with a competitive showing just outside the play-off spots at the moment.

But Harriers can show a menacing record against the Exiles, with four wins from their last four meetings, and the club believe that a super-charged atmosphere at Aggborough can give them an edge that can take them through.

At stake is every non-league club's dream – the point of entry which brings the big guns into the competition, and Harriers manager Steve Burr and chairman Mark Serrell have been busy rallying the troops for a rousing Aggborough atmosphere.

"The fans have been absolutely brilliant for us this season and they really rise to the occasion when needed," says Burr.

"The atmosphere at Aggborough for huge games is very special.

"This is the FA Cup and with our incredible support and a bit of magic we can achieve our dreams.

"We're all looking forward to it and we're going to do our best to win. Like everybody else, when that second round draw was made I was hoping for a Wolves or Sheffield United.

"But now we have the chance of Premier League opposition if we can get through."

Serrell's staff are making plans to cope with an influx of more than 1,000 visiting fans from Newport which will add to the decibel levels and is urging home supporters to respond.

He has been telling fans "The atmosphere at Aggborough for home matches this season has been the best I have known.

"Now there is a tremendous excitement about the place – we're packed up in the restaurant areas, tickets have been selling well and, as we understand it, Newport are going to be bringing a sizable number of away fans.

"They make a great noise and always have so there will be an extra little job at the weekend for our supporters to make sure they win the singing contests!"

Burr watched Newport squeeze by Braintree in a first round replay and acknowledged that "they are a lot stronger" than the team Harriers beat 3-2 in a memorable Aggborough clash last season.

"Fair play to them – they are proving that teams can go up from the Conference and compete well in League Two which is our ambition," he said.
