Kidderminster denied win by late Macclesfield equaliser
Paul Turnbull's injury-time equaliser was enough to clip the wings of high-flying Kidderminster Harriers after Callum Gittings' 27th-minute goal looked to have earned the visitors victory at Moss Rose.
Harriers manager Steve Burr was fuming after the game following a string of decisions from the match officials that went against his side and ultimately cost his team the victory in their battle to reduce the gap to runaway leaders Cambridge United.
Burr highlighted penalty shouts he felt could have benefitted his title chasers.
"The one in the fifth minute on Callum (Gittings) was a definite penalty, he was following up and was clearly fouled," claimed Burr.
This was in addition to the challenge by Danny Andrew on former Macclesfield striker Amari Morgan-Smith on the stroke of half-time, which went unpunished. And Burr was equally distraught over a Joe Lolley 'goal' which was ruled out for an infringement and denied Harriers a 2-0 lead.
"The referee is about 10 yards away, in a good position and he signals a goal. The assistant is 20 yards away and the decision is overturned," said Burr. "I don't know what it was disallowed for and neither do my players, it was a perfectly good goal and would have changed the game."
Gittings' goal came when he robbed Andy Halls and raced into the box before angling a fierce drive that appeared to deceive keeper Rhys Taylor.
After the break Macclesfield and Harriers both enjoyed good spells but having soaked up a lot of pressure in the final 15 minutes Harriers finally succumbed as Connor Jennings headed Danny Whitaker's left-wing corner back across goal and Turnbull fired home from the edge of the six yard box.
