Kidderminster Harriers fans still waiting over Steve Burr future
The wall of silence surrounding the future of Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr today remained in place – as chairman Mark Serrell rejected claims the club are in financial trouble.
Burr was granted permission to talk with Harriers' Skrill Conference rivals Forest Green Rovers over their vacant managerial post on Friday.
But a swift resolution looks increasingly unlikely with the Gloucestershire club also eyeing several other candidates.
Meanwhile, Serrell swiftly moved to dismiss claims the club's decision to allow Burr to speak to Forest Green was motivated by financial necessity.
Harriers would be in line for substantial compensation for Burr should he leave.
"The decision which has been taken has been taken by Steve Burr and not the club," said Serrell.
"I've already stated he is the best manager in the Football Conference, that is my opinion.
"There are no financial issues at Kidderminster Harriers.
"We have had a 10 per cent increase in season ticket sales and you cannot buy a corporate box for this season as they are all sold out.
"This is simply the rumour mill and I'd like to put all that to bed."
