Kidderminster Harriers confirm boss Steve Burr to stay
Steve Burr today expressed his desire to get Kidderminster Harriers into the Football League after confirming he will stay as manager.
The 50-year-old has chosen to remain at Aggborough after holding talks with Forest Green Rovers.
Burr is convinced he has made the right decision to stay and has set his sights on promotion from the Skrill Conference. Harriers finished second last season and are currently in the same position this term.
"This last week has been tough to say the least," said Burr.
"I have been here for the last four seasons and I have always tried to improve each year.
"I want to try and get this club into the Football League.
"It's been a big part of my life for the last four years and I have had a lot of message over the past week.
"I know I am making the right decision to stay where I am."
The news Burr had been granted permission to talk with Rovers broke on Friday night and came as a shock, considering the Gloucestershire club are currently 15th in the table, though they can boast a substantial playing budget.
Burr was absent as Harriers lost 1-0 at Barnet on Saturday but the club confirmed he would be staying earlier this afternoon and he has now resumed full duties, preparing for Saturday's FA Cup first round clash with Sutton United.
He insists he remains 100 per cent committed to the Harriers cause and is keen to put the past few days behind him.
"It was important for me and everyone connected with the club to make the decision," he said.
"When I heard Forest Green were interested I decided to see what they had to say but it never felt right to me.
"These things happen in football, it's done now and we will try to move on.
"We've got a massive game to look forward to now on Saturday and hopefully we can get through to the next round of the cup."
