Kidderminster Harriers 1 Wrexham 3 (Wrexham win 5-2 on aggregate) - match report
Kidderminster's promotion dreams were crushed after Wrexham cruised to a second Wembley appearance of the season.
Goals from Brett Ormerod and Joe Clarke either side of Chey Dunkley's header put the Red Dragons in control.
Neil Ashton's late penalty made it 5-2 on aggregate to the visitors in the Blue Square Premier play-off semi-final.
Harriers – 2-1 down from the first leg – struggled to overturn the deficit at Aggborough with the visitors deserved winners.
Wrexham won the FA Trophy with a penalty shoot-out win over Grimsby in March and face the Mariners or Newport in the final.
Harriers made three changes as Danny Pilkington – brother of Norwich star Anthony – replaced the James Vincent, sidelined with a hamstring injury, Mike Williams came in for Mickey Demitriou and Martin Devaney was preferred to Marvin Johnson.
Wrexham were unchanged from their win at the Racecourse Ground and with their advantage settled well.
Dean Keates struck a free kick straight at Danny Lewis and Jonny Hunt failed to get a telling touch on Andy Morrell's pass with the visitors composed and comfortable.
But Harriers almost levelled the tie on 12 minutes when Lee Vaughan's cross after a clever free kick smacked the far post.
Dunkley then forced Chris Maxwell into a smart stop as Harriers began to press but Wrexham wrestled back the advantage and took the lead after 30 minutes.
Maxwell claimed a hanging cross and when he went long to Morrell the player-manager played in Ormerod to burst clean through and sweep high past Lewis.
Kyle Storer almost replied instantly when he drove wide but Wrexham were the most enterprising as the hosts struggled with the occasion.
Wrexham continued to hold off Harriers with a degree of comfort, despite some admirable bluster from the hosts, with Maxwell dominating his area.
They cruised to half-time and just two minutes after the break David Artell flicked Hunt free kick just wide of the far post.
Harriers' promotion dreams were slipping away as they searched for a spark and Maxwell denied Devaney with the winger's follow up blocked by Stephen Wright.
Storer and Williams were booked in quick succession as Harriers' desperation increased but they grabbed a lifeline when Dunkley bundled in Storer's free kick just after the hour.
But just as Harriers looked like mounting a rousing comeback Wrexham extended their aggregate lead on 69 minutes.
Devaney conceded a free-kick on the left and Clarke's low free kick crept past the hapless Lewis at the near post.
Harriers pressed and Ryan Rowe shot over before Gash forced Maxwell into a sprawling save after a fine run but their hopes were over five minutes from time.
Adrian Cieslewicz was scythed down by Josh Gowling and Ashton dispatched the penalty past Lewis to end Harriers' hopes.
