Kidderminster Harriers will be back in force to raise funds for Kemp Hospice on December 2 after their first visit to the town's charity facility.

Harriers manager Steve Burr and a host of first-team players met patients at the hospice in the heart of Kidderminster, on Mason Road.

Boss Burr, club physio Gavin Crowe, midfielder James Vincent and defender Mickey Demetriou are now set to compete in the hospice's Santa Fun Run.

They spent time chatting to patients, posing for photographs and signing autographs, as well as reading through programmes from Harriers home games.

The club's kit manager Ade Ganderton also provided cakes as players, staff and patients enjoyed cups of tea.

Kemp Hospice fundraising and marketing manager Richard Brown gave everyone who attended a lapel badge as a souvenir.

Staff from the hospice also attended the Harriers home match against Hyde and staged a bucket collection at half-time, generating £120.

Meanwhile, Harriers will face Football League opposition in the next round of the FA Youth Cup if they can progress to the first round proper tonight.

Jerry Gill's men travel to Matlock and will make the trip to Burton Albion in the next phase if they can make it past the third qualifying round.

The club's academy is in its second season and they enjoyed a second round run last time, where they missed out playing Fulham after losing to Carlisle United.

And Gill, the former Birmingham defender, believes his young charges are kicking on as they continue their campaign in the competition.

He said: "The good thing about them, at the moment, is that they have knowledge of how to see games out and win them – that's refreshing to see."
