Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr tore into his players after local rivals Stourbridge took bragging rights and retained the Worcestershire Senior Cup.
Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr tore into his players after local rivals Stourbridge took bragging rights and retained the Worcestershire Senior Cup.
The Glassboys won the final on their opponent's ground on Saturday, Sam Rock's goal the difference between the two sides at Aggborough.
Visiting goalkeeper Lewis Solly denied Burr's men with a number of saves but the Harriers boss was accepting no excuses for defeat after the match.
He said: "I thought too many of our lads were off it and it was a disappointing performance.
"I think we tried everything to score in the second half but we are disappointed overall.
"I can't think of anybody who came out of it with any real credit for the start of the season next week.
"I don't want to take anything away from Stourbridge, they got their goal and after that we huffed and puffed a little bit.
"We've been doing well so, hopefully, a performance like this will give us a little kick up the backside for next week.
"But we played as individuals rather than as a team."
Stourbridge had the lead as early as the eighth minute, Rock tucking home from close range after Stuart Hendrie's shot thumped the post.
Former Stourbridge striker Ryan Rowe tried to respond for Harriers but saw his stab at goal held well by Solly.
Indeed, Rowe looked the best route back to level terms for the hosts and, when he wasn't having a pop for himself, he was setting them up.
Rowe slid in the ball to Danny Pilkington with nine minutes to go until the break, but the winger coud only blaze just over the bar.
The forward then nodded a near-post header narrowly wide just after the re-start.
On 53 minutes, Rowe saw a close-range shot saved excellently by Solly before substitute Steve Guinan sent the follow-up over the bar.
Guinan was later denied by another neat Solly save, the pressure building as Harriers hit the bar twice in a minute.
In the 64th minute, Stourbridge's Paul McCone nearly scored an own goal for the club he featured for a trialist in pre-season.
McCone's header from a Exodus Geohaghon throw struck the woodwork, before substitute Mickey Demetriou's rising shot also hit the bar.
James Vincent went within inches of getting Harriers level inside the last 10 minutes but saw his shot go just wide.
Demetriou's header presented the opening, Guinan once more being denied by Solly with just five minutes left to play.
