Kidderminster Harriers striker Anthony Malbon today thanked the medical staff who treated him after he was knocked unconscious on the pitch.

Malbon had to be air lifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being knocked out during last Saturday's game against Mansfield.

Onlookers had feared the worst after the forward was clattered by Louis Briscoe on 64 minutes, in an incident that delayed play for nine minutes.

Harriers' final game of the season, a 3-0 defeat, continued with Malbon regaining consciousness, but complaining of neck and head pains.

Fans had to be cleared from Aggborough at full-time to make way for the air ambulance but the 20-year-old was discharged later that night.

And Malbon today took the chance to express his gratitude at everyone who treated him in his time of need.

He said: "I feel fine, though I have still got a bit of a headache and my neck's still stiff.

"That's probably the worst bit - my head is OK, so it's just as well there's probably nothing in there!

"At the end of the day, I had the best care possible and was in the best hands I could be.

"I thank physio Gavin Crowe and the club doctor for everything they did, as well as all of the paramedics.

"They are life savers, definitely. They do their job fantastically well."
