Kidderminster Harriers will be forced to give a matchday fitness check to Steve Guinan after the striker underwent minor surgery on his nose.

Guinan was operated on yesterday and will be assessed before tomorrow's Blue Square Premier match against Kettering at Aggborough.

The 36-year-old was excused from full training today as a precaution and no decision will be made on his availabilty until just before kick-off.

In midfield, Jack Byrne misses out after picking up a hamstring strain on Monday in the dramatic 3-2 win at home to Newport County.

Kyle Storer will take his squad spot after a two-match ban but may not start, after Dan Bradley impressed as a substitute on Monday.

Another replacement against Newport, striker Nick Wright, will consider himself extremely unlucky not to start, after a 10-minute hat-trick.

The hosts hold the last play-off spot by two points going into this weekend while, conversely, relegation has already been confirmed for Kettering.

But Harriers manager Steve Burr is another of the opinion that it will give the Poppies a licence to kill, rather than shut up shop and play for a point.

Burr said: "I can't see much mileage in Kettering doing that tomorrow, because they are already relegated.

"They will want to come here and put a performance on. If I were in their position, I would want to try to go out and win the game.

"There will be a lot of players there who will be fighting for their futures and contracts.

"It will be up to us to break them down in whatever way we can, because it is another big one for us."
