Kidderminster Harriers defender Tom Sharpe will today go under the knife for reconstructive surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.

Sharpe badly damaged his right knee in a Blue Square Premier game at Stockport in January and has been in the treatment room ever since.

But the 23-year-old will have an operation today, which has been partially funded by the Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust.

KHIST have contributed £1,400, while the remaining costs have been picked up by the Professional Footballers Assocation.

Meanwhile, Harriers boss Steve Burr today revealed "staying on top" of David Hankin has been key in the winger's form since returning to the side.

Hankin has nailed down a starting spot in the last three games and shone in Saturday's 3-1 at home to Darlington, scoring the second goal and creating the other two.

The 27-year-old had previously only been used from the bench since his last start, the 1-1 draw against York on January 24, in a stop-start season.

The wide man has made 22 appearances over this campaign but is looking to finish with a flourish, having scored for the first time since November.

Grabbing the opener in a 3-3 draw at Ebbsfleet was his last strike but boss Burr believes Saturday's effort was one of his best.

He said: "I have known Dave for a few years now and I thought he stuck his goal away well.

"He had another good game on Saturday and put in a solid performance – you know what you're going to get with him.

"He's the type of lad who can be laid back at times, but it's my job to stay on top of him and get the best out of him.

"In the three games he has been back in, we haven't lost and he has performed well, he never stops working."
