Harriers backing Ryan Rowe to shine

Kidderminster Harriers' management today declared they are pleased with the impact of Ryan Rowe as the striker looks to get off the mark.

Rowe started for the first time in last Saturday's 2-1 win at Bath City but is still looking for his first goal, after three appearances.

Cameo roles resulted in just over a half of football against Lincoln and another eight minutes in the next home game, the visit of Wrexham.

But the 23-year-old has showed glimpses of the potential that persuaded Harriers to fork out a five-figure fee to Stourbridge two weeks ago.

A hand in both goals at Bath - along with twice going close himself - indiciated that he will soon be opening his goalscoring account for the club.

And assistant boss Gary Whild has seen enough on the training ground to insist that Rowe will make his mark at Aggborough.

Whild said: "His first game did come around a bit quickly for him, having only signed the previous afternoon, so you can understand that.

"What you can see in training, though, is that he is a very good, technically gifted footballer and his use of the ball and retention of it is excellent.

"He has a reputation as an out-and-out goalscorer as well and against Bath he had a hand certainly in our first goal and for part of the second, too."

Harriers saw off the attentions of Football League clubs to land Rowe, with their fourth offer, and Whild believes it was the right move.

He said: "Whatever you want to say, he was sought after. We have spoken about all of his attributes and he's at a good age, as well.

"It suits him to be at a club at this level and I am confident that with that little bit of luck you need in the game.

"He will do very well for us and I am looking forward to working with him."
