Kidderminster Harriers new-boy Marvin Johnson believes he's taken a big step towards his dream of playing in the Football League.

Johnson's move from part-time outfit Romulus was completed on transfer deadline day and rubber-stamped by the FA yesterday.

The free-scoring attacker, who can play up front or on the wing, has signed an 18-month deal at Aggborough after impressing in a previous trial.

After 18 goals already this season, Johnson attracted interest from three Championship clubs but a firm offer from Harriers made the difference.

The 21-year-old was on trial at Burnley, while Watford and Bristol City were also linked, but full-time football the first and most important step.

His new club are chasing promotion to the Football League through to the Blue Square Premier play-offs and Johnson wants to lead the charge.

He said: "I am happy for the opportunity to push myself on – they offered me a decent package and it's good to be able to play football full-time.

"There were rumours flying everywhere about different clubs who were interested and I wasn't 100 per cent I was going at one stage.

"I am a little bit disappointed about not signing for Burnley, but it was a great experience.

"I came back a more confident, better player – hopefully this move will be another step towards the Football League.

"I just want to get my head down and enjoy my football, I went for a week's trial at Kidderminster back in September and I liked the training.

"It was much sharper which suits me because I prefer to play at a higher tempo. I can't wait to get started."
